SIV Fire Protection has delivered another project on time with completion of passive fire protection work at the County Mall Shopping Centre in Crawley
Specialist London passive fire protection contractor SIV FP have completed the installations of a range of fire protection sytems to the refurbishment of the Shopping Mall in Crawley.
SIV Fire Protection were appointed by The Carey Group to undertake the design and installation of the Fire Protection Works at the County Mall Shopping Centre where 11 individual units were converted into one unit over three floors. The scope of work for this project consisted of the installation of fire boarding encasements to structural steelwork, including the protection of steels around lift shafts, escalators and service risers. Another aspect of our works was the installations of fire protection systems to staircases, soffits and vertical wind posts, including the application of Fire stopping & service penetrations sealing systems and fire & acoustic sealing to block work joints.
SIV FP began work on the scheme in the middle of July 2013 and completed the project in December 2013. SIV embarked on the project’s very demanding construction programme at short notice and had to undertake some of the works outside of normal working hours to adhere to tight timescales. Ken Dyer, Project Manager at Carey, said: “At all times during a tight programme, SIV met all targets set. Their flexible approach allowed the numbers of operatives on site to be increased, as required. Weekend and night work, often at short notice, was dealt with in a professional way and targets were always met. Even when under pressure to complete work, their high quality of workmanship did not diminish and remained high throughout the project. All of SIV’s Management, Supervisors and operatives showed a proactive approach in all aspects on a very busy and difficult project and were able to work with and around other sub-contractors in difficult circumstances. I would be very happy to use this company again on any future project requiring fire protection.
