Smoke and fire damage in grade I and grade II-listed buildings can be a nightmare. Not only is it a Health and Safety risk, but restoration is a painful and expensive process. At SIV, we can protect your investment with fire protection for timber floors, otherwise known as a timber floor upgrade, that’s perfect for listed buildings.
Timber floor upgrade
Taking apart listed buildings can be a planning and logistical headache, but with our timber floor upgrade, there’s no need to remove ceilings.
It’s a rock-mineral slab with one side coated with a smoke- and fire-resistant sealant. It’s light and fast to install. We cut the batts on site and secure with compression and intumastic bonding. You’ll get up to 90 minutes’ fire protection. Enough to get out safely and preserve the building’s integrity.

Applications
A timber floor upgrade will improve the fire resistance of timber floors while not affecting load capability. It’s ideal where you want to avoid disturbing a lath and plaster ceiling, such as in a period building, or where access is difficult from the soffit face.
These upgrades are also useful in flats over shops, multi-occupancy buildings and old buildings with historical significance.
